Eva Hvingelby Ph.D.

With over two decades of experience in healthcare, H. Eva Hvingelby is a multi-faceted Nurse Practitioner, specializing in general medicine, critical care, and palliative care. She holds a Master’s of Science and a Nurse Practitioner degree from UCLA and a PhD in Human Development from the Fielding Institute. Beginning her journey in healthcare as a nurse’s aide, she climbed the ranks to become a Registered Nurse and eventually a Nurse Practitioner. Eva is not just a seasoned clinician but also an academic, serving as a faculty member in Walden University’s Master of Science in Nursing program in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Her broad professional background includes work in various high-intensity settings like ICU, ER, Trauma, and Urgent Care, making her well-equipped to understand the complexities of modern healthcare. Eva is also experienced in hormone therapy and gender-affirming care. Her versatility doesn’t stop there; she spent seven years in federal service, focusing on outreach to marginalized populations and consulting on improving clinical communication across various healthcare disciplines.

Eva’s educational pursuits have been driven by a desire to understand the intricacies of health-related decision-making. Her PhD was aimed at exploring the internal and external factors that influence people’s choices regarding their health. As a thought leader in nursing, she possesses an in-depth understanding of the roles and processes involving every member of the healthcare team, from aides to primary care clinicians.

Eva has shared her knowledge as a former writer for Verywell Health, specializing in head trauma topics.

From a young age, she knew she was destined for a career in healthcare, providing care for her family and pets even as a child. As a board-certified Nurse Practitioner, Eva remains committed to optimizing health for the best possible quality of life and supports her patients in achieving their wellness goals.
